Details

The UK agreed a deal to associate to Horizon Europe on 7 September 2023. UK researchers can now apply for Horizon Europe funding, certain that all successful UK applicants will be covered through the UK’s association (or through the guarantee) for the remainder of the programme.

The guarantee funding will be delivered through UK Research and Innovation. All calls in Work Programme 2024 will be covered by association, and the UK guarantee scheme will be extended to cover all calls under Work Programme 2023.

If a UK partner can’t complete their part of a multi-beneficiary project, funding may be transferred to another institution (q.30). Cascaded funding: cannot be held or administered by Associate Partners (q31). ERC: Overseas teams planned costs covered (q52).

    General updates: Applications must be made as ‘beneficiary’ to receive funding. EURATOM Research and Training 2021 call is also covered by the guarantee. Lump sum model will still be funded on a quarterly basis.

    The guarantee date has been updated to cover all Horizon Europe calls with a final submission date on or before 31 December 2022. Multiple changes have been made across the document to reflect this. The guarantee extension also includes 2023 costs for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology Knowledge and Innovation Community activities delivered by UK participants.
