Threshold

In initial calculations, any Higher Education Providers (HEPs) allocated amounts below this figure do not receive funding.

Minimum allocation

The minimum amount that eligible HEPs will receive; allocations below this are ‘bumped up’ to this value.

Maximum allocation (or Cap)

The maximum amount of any HEP’s allocation; allocations above this are cut off at this value.

Rounding

While funds are being calculated, figures are retained to 15 decimal places, unless otherwise indicated. Once the calculations are complete, the final step is to round the figure to the nearest whole £1, producing the final allocation to each HEP.

This can result in the total amount allocated being slightly over or under the original budget.

Mergers

Where two providers have merged to become one, the relevant data from each separate provider is summed together to give corresponding data for the merged provider.
