Big Ideas is EPSRC’s initiative to collect adventurous ideas from the research community.
Big Ideas go beyond the scale of something you might apply to us for funding. It could be fundamental or challenge-driven. It is always ambitious, transformative, and has the potential for ground-breaking impacts in all forms.
Submissions to EPSRC’s Big Ideas initiative should galvanise communities to work together on ideas that will attract public, industry and government enthusiasm and excitement. Not only do Big Ideas help us shape our future research priorities, they are also a great way to bring communities together across disciplines and with industry to share ideas and push the boundaries of what could be possible.
We recognise that truly Big Ideas will often require working across disciplines and sectors. Therefore, in addition to welcoming submissions across all areas of the EPSRC portfolio, we also work together with the other research councils to identify potential synergies across different fields of research. We nurture ideas in a connected and agile way, from wherever the idea may be submitted.
