Provide advice to help UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) develop processes and policies that support our vision and meet ethical standards. You’ll be an independent voice, supporting the committee’s board and accounting officer.
This is a senior role as a member of a sub-committee of the UKRI Board.
Who can apply
You must have experience with some or all of:
- finance, accounting and audit
- internal controls, including fraud and internal audit
- risk management, including non-financial risks
- technology risk and assurance, including cyber
- information governance
- environmental, social and corporate governance
- ethics and compliance.
You have good communication and interpersonal skills, both in person and across virtual platforms.
We are seeking candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds, disciplines and experience, reflecting the breadth of UKRI’s activities. We want diversity of thought and fresh perspectives, including from:
- emerging industries
- established and start-up commerce
- higher education and research
- the third sector and public service.
The role
You’ll intelligently review and constructively challenge UKRI’s assurances on the following areas to make sure they’re comprehensive and reliable:
- governance
- risk management
- the control environment
- performance information
- the integrity of financial statements.
Time commitment
This is a part time role. There are four formal meetings and several deep dives each year. In total, you will need to commit 10 days a year.
Remuneration
You will receive an honorarium of £3,400 a year.
