Our corporate plan

The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) corporate plan sets out how we plan to achieve the long-term strategic ambitions for the whole organisation currently set out in our UKRI strategy: transforming tomorrow together. It details how we will work to deliver against our overarching, cross-cutting objectives for the whole organisation. It sets out key deliverables for the current financial year, including key contributions of all parts of the organisation to achieve them.

Our first corporate plan set out our goals and objectives for the spending review period 2022 to 2025, and detailed near term activities for 2022 to 2023, which we updated for 2023 to 2024.

2025 to 2027 update

Following a year of central government transition in 2024 to 2025, our corporate plan for 2025 to 2027 updates our plans reflecting key priorities agreed with government through the 2024 UKRI budget allocations.

It includes an annex with our new UKRI objectives and our key results for 2025 to 2026.

We will report against the corporate plan through our annual reports and accounts, which is laid before Parliament each summer.

As we move into the penultimate year of our strategy, we are evolving our focus to maximise outcomes from the public investment we make. We remain committed to advancing curiosity-led research, harnessing UK research and innovation (R&I) strengths to drive UK innovation-led growth, and support delivery of wider government priorities to enhance public services and achieve wider benefits for citizens.

This refinement of focus is underpinned by our strategic investment in R&I system capabilities, including talented people and teams and cutting-edge infrastructure across the UK, and by our organisational transformation to enhance our operational effectiveness.

We will update our plans in 2026, setting out any revisions to our strategy to reflect the vision of our Chief Executive, Professor Sir Ian Chapman, and our focus following the 2025 spending review. This will include our role in supporting delivery of the government’s priorities including the Industrial Strategy.
