Apply for funding to address one of seven environmental ‘highlight topic’ research challenges.

You must be a UK resident and employed by an eligible UK research organisation.

The full economic cost of your project can be between £2.5 million and £5 million, depending on the topic you choose. NERC will fund 80% of the full economic cost.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for ESRC funding. Your project must be social science-led and at least 50% within ESRC’s remit.

Public health intervention development (PHIND): Jan 2022

Apply for funding for the early-stage development of an intervention that seeks to address a UK or global public health challenge.

Any researcher employed by an eligible research organisation, including MRC institutes and units (including those in Gambia and Uganda), can apply for this opportunity.

Study arts and humanities at an international institution

Apply for funding to study at an international institution.

You must be either:

  • an AHRC-funded PhD student
  • an early career researcher or postdoctoral research assistant.

Proposals can be from any arts and humanities area.

Your placement will last three to six months.

Apply for funding to support novel research into how digital approaches can be applied to improve manufacturing processes, manufacturing systems or both.

You must be:

  • a UK resident
