In the run-up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), we asked our researchers to tell us about their work and the challenges of tackling climate change.
Dr Desy Pirmasari is a Research Fellow for the GENERATE project at the University of Leeds.
Originally from Indonesia, an area that has been dramatically affected by climate change, Desy’s work involves bringing equality and inclusivity to the discussion on climate change, and listening to people’s views that are not often heard.
Climate change, climate justice, and gender justice are three key areas Desy is focusing on.
Desy says:
We hope climate action will accommodate everyone, especially those often unheard. We use art and creativity because we believe these are universal languages which can help those often unheard to speak and express themselves to talk about climate change and its impact to their life.
