About this data
Statistics for the ’Horizon Europe guarantee’ being delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) on behalf of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
This data is updated quarterly and includes the total number of:
- verified applications submitted to UKRI, and the total grant value requested in these applications
- grant offer letters issued to applicants, and the value of the grant offers issued.
The data is also broken down by the UKRI application route for the guarantee funding.

Terms used in table
Collaborative Horizon Europe Guarantee Grants (hosted on Innovation Funding Service)
This includes guarantee funding for all Horizon Europe grants that are not funded by the European Research Council or the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. The majority of grants under this heading support international collaboration between multiple countries and research and innovation aiming to address global challenges.
European Research Council Guarantee Grants
This includes guarantee funding for all Horizon Europe grants funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The UKRI grant replaces the original ERC award and supports a pioneering research project led by an exceptional researcher.
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Guarantee Grants
This includes guarantee funding for all Horizon Europe grants funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The UKRI grant may replace the original award or support UK participation in an international project. The grants support international mobility for exceptional researchers and projects.
Applications submitted and verified
This is the number of applications that have been submitted to UKRI and have had the initial checks to confirm that they have been submitted to the correct funding opportunity and have an eligible Horizon Europe grant. Since applications will have been evaluated through the European Commission’s trusted peer review systems, no further application quality assessment has been undertaken by UKRI.
Value of grants requested in verified applications
This is the total amount of funding requested across all the verified applications submitted to UKRI. We intend to process and approve these applications and award this funding.
Grant offer letters issued
This is the number of applications that have been processed and have had a grant offer letter awarded. This allows the project to begin.
Value of grant offers issued
This is the total amount of funding committed by UKRI to the projects that have been issued their grant offer letters. This funding will be spent over the lifetime of these projects, paid by UKRI in regular intervals as set out in the Horizon Europe Guarantee guidance.
Latest statistics for the Horizon Europe guarantee
From October 2025, EURATOM and CHIPS schemes are no longer included in the Collaborative Horizon Europe Guarantee Grants figures.
