Apply to lead a one-year knowledge exchange project. Your project will bring arts and humanities research to local and regional decision makers.

You must be a UK researcher eligible for AHRC funding.

Quantum technology career development fellowships

Apply for funding to develop your quantum technology career and work towards becoming an independent researcher.

You must be hosted and supported by an eligible UK research organisation.

You must have one of the following:

  • a PhD
  • at least four years’ experience in a relevant field.

Develop and integrate energy storage technologies at grid scale

Apply to do fundamental research into developing and integrating technologies to enable energy storage at grid level.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for EPSRC funding.

Your project must be at least 50% within the remit of EPSRC.

The full economic cost of your project can be up to £1.5 million. EPSRC will fund 80% of the full economic cost.

Embedded digital researchers applying transformative technologies

Apply for funding for a placement with a non-academic organisation. You will help the organisation develop and use transformative digital technologies to support environmental solutions and catalyse further activity.

You can use the following technologies applied within an environmental context:

  • artificial intelligence (AI)
  • digital twinning
  • engineering biology informatics
  • quantum technologies
  • autonomous systems or robotics.

Ethics in artificial intelligence research and development

Apply for funding to explore ways to include ethics in the research and development of artificial intelligence (AI). You will create new networks to carry out early research.

You must be employed by an eligible UK research institution.

Digital technologies to open up environmental sciences

Apply to be part of a three-week online ‘hackathon’ event. During the event, teams develop ideas for digital technologies that improve equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the environmental sciences.

You could be:

  • part of a team developing an idea
  • a mentor paid £2,000 to help teams fully consider EDI or to provide them with technical advice.

Anyone can apply for the hackathon. To develop your ideas further, someone eligible for NERC funding can apply for pilot funding at the end of the event.

UK and South Korea social science, arts and humanities connections

Apply for funding to develop long-term relationships between social science, arts or humanities researchers based in the UK and South Korea.

You must be:

  • a researcher at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding
  • at postdoctoral level or higher.

Examining UK-China creative industries research and innovation

Apply for funding to analyse creative industries research and innovation collaboration between the UK and China.

You must be from one of the following:

  • eligible higher education institution
  • independent research organisation
  • research council institute in the UK.

You must collaborate with at least one research organisation in China and engage with industry in the UK and China.

Establish an international network in quantum technologies

Apply for funding to establish an international network in quantum technologies. Your network will bring researchers, industry and others together, both physically and virtually.

You must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for EPSRC funding.
