In the run-up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), we asked our researchers to tell us about their work and the challenges of tackling climate change.

Mortala Ndow is a programme manager at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Unit in The Gambia and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Mortala explains that climate change has become the greatest factor to hamper socioeconomic development in developing countries.

We want to see the developed world leaders take decisive action to curb the use of fossil fuel and then invest in renewable energy so that carbon emissions can be neutralised to zero levels.
