Research and innovation drives growth, creates jobs and improves lives. But it is important we make sure these benefits are spread widely throughout the UK.
So we are doing more work to help create economic and social prosperity in many different locations: in our towns, coastal areas, suburbs and countryside, and in all regions and nations of the UK.
Working with partners across local government, industry, local communities and beyond, we will:
- identify more of the challenges that create regional inequalities
- bring people together from different communities and disciplines to work on solutions
- invest in areas of local strength, skill and expertise, to strengthen capability and fill gaps
- help some of the most marginalised people and communities
Building upon these foundations and working in partnership, we support people to thrive wherever they are.
