MRC reserves the right to amend any of the published dates for call opening, call closing, shortlisting and meeting, so please check the website regularly in case of any changes.
We highly recommend that you view the important information at the bottom of this page relating to applicant responsibilities for the application process.
MRC has also provided information related to closing, shortlisting and meeting date information for all published MRC researcher-led funding opportunities. Please see the bottom of this page.
Call closing date
It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that:
- they apply to the correct MRC funding opportunity
- their application is submitted with adequate time to allow their research organisation to undertake all the necessary checks
- the host research organisation completes the final submission of the application before the date and time advertised within the funding finder opportunity.
MRC reserves the right to reject any application that has been submitted to the incorrect MRC call.
Late applications will not be considered.
Funding opportunity guidance
The applicant must firstly check if MRC has provided call specific guidance for the opportunity they intend to submit to. If call guidance is provided by MRC, then the applicant must read and understand the guidance before they start their application.
The applicant should also refer to the MRC guidance for applicants at all times during the application and submission process.
Shortlisting dates
Unless otherwise indicated, MRC shortlisting of proposal should take place four to five weeks before the detailed meeting date.
Please do not contact MRC for a decision regarding an MRC application. MRC will notify all applicants by email with the outcome of their application as soon as operationally possible after the shortlisting meeting has concluded.
Meeting dates
Following the conclusion of the funding decision meeting, MRC will endeavour to inform each applicant of the funding decision by email (funded and unfunded), within 10 working days.
